The player list for the Poomse competition this weekend is available for download from the Document Download section.

Team Poomse draw will be confirmed on the morning of the competition as there were a number of people who did not fill in there forms correctly regarding team poomse.

19th May 2008 - 3 MTC Head Instructors on Interim Victorian Executive

Congratulations to the following Head Instructors who are now part of the Interim Victorian Executive until November 2008

Barry Akehurst - State President

Greg Butterworth - State Technical Director

Alf Dell'orso - State Coaching Director

The old executive was voted out on Sunday night with a resounding 98% of people who voted agreeing that it was time for change after the old executive decide to affiliate our State with an alternate association without consulting it's members.

The old executive then failed to respond to complaints by the members thus culminating in their removal from power on the weekend.

Thank you to these 3 Head Instructors, as well as the instructors of other Victorian clubs, who continue to run their clubs while donating their time to helping get our State back on track and back at the top of Taekwondo in Australia!

14th May 2008 - Carmen makes the Olympic Team! (UPDATE)

It is with great pride that we announce that Carmen Marton as been selected to represent Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the +67kg division.

Carmen was selected on the team based on her past performances and was considered to be the best possible candidate for the division.

Carmen also recently won Bronze at the Beijing Olympic Test Event!

Carmen has always been one of the premiere athletes in this country, consistently winning National and International titles (see Carmen's athlete page in the About Us section under Our Champions). Her inclusion in this team is testament to her hard work and dedication.

Carmen recently contacted us and had this to say on her next phase of training leading up to the Olympics,

"In the next few months I will be training at the AIS, full time up until the Olympic Games. At the end of June a group of international fighters from Korea/Europe will come to the AIS for a few weeks, to act as our training partners.
 
We will depart the AIS on the 26th of July and travel to the island Jeju, Korea. There we will acclimatize to the weather, and fit in some last minute training sessions before heading into the athletes village on the 15th of August. I will compete on the last day of the Taekwondo event- it will also be the last day of the Olympic Games!"

Everyone involved at the Melbourne Taekwondo Centre wish to Congratulate Carmen and the whole Marton family!
